Driven from their homes by years of violence, there are an estimated 200,000 Karen people displaced internally in Karen State, Myanmar.
Ei Tu Hta Camp is one of the many camps for Karen people. Life is hard in the camps, especially for Karen women who, after suffering at the hands of the military, are oppressed further by their own communities.
But local leaders are standing up for women in the Karen community, ensuring that they know their rights and have the services they need.
The Fund for Global Human Rights has supported the Karen Women's Organization (KWO) for many years. KWO provides direct services like food, healthcare, and education to Karen people across Karen state.
