Ten year old children shot in the head, infants beaten to death with spades, a six month old baby thrown into a river and drowned, a baby grabbed from her mother and thrown into a pit of burning bodies. Parents forced to watch helpless as soldiers kill their children.
It's hard to read the accounts of what has been taking place against the Rohingya, let alone imagine the horror of having experienced them. But Rohingya are describing what has happened because they want help, they want the world to act.
It is now six weeks since this crisis began and the European Union has done absolutely nothing to pressure Burma army head Min Aung Hlaing and his military to stop their campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Rohingya.
With the government of Burma defending the military and denying human rights violations are happening, the only hope that the Rohingya have is international pressure.
European Union Foreign Ministers are meeting on Monday 16th October. They must act to pressure Min Aung Hlaing to stop the ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya.
Tell them to act now to stop European companies selling equipment to the military and doing business with them. All European countries should stop training and co-operation with the military, and the EU must work to build support for a global arms embargo against the military in Burma.
The United Nations has said the scale of suffering in Rakhine state is unimaginable. Unless the EU and rest of the international community start to act, this suffering will continue.
